Jitter.

I love my husband.
And my baby.
(And Jittergram)

That is all.

(I'll be back later in the day with a lengthier post - okay?)

Mollie's Chair - 12 weeks!

Mollie
12 Weeks

Miss Mollie has reached that magical three month mark!
And, magically, she is starting to find a bit of a routine. My dear girl has begun to sleep decent stretches, both day and night, and we are both loving it.
Mol is such a happy lass since she has discovered sleeping in a bed! She smiles a lot and even laughs a little. She is doing a lot of talking and gooing and loves to converse with everyone.
Mollie has found her feet, and loves to watch them kick around. She is beginning to grasp things with her chubby little hands, and hit around the toys on her play gym.
She's pretty much perfect, if I do say so myself.

(I have no idea why these photos are so blurry, they aren't when I open them up as photos, just when I put them in Blogger. Good one, Blogger, way to make my photos look stink!)

Wardrobe day.

I decided today was the day to brave a vintage dress.
I've been so disheartened with my post-partum frump that I've not really dared to frock it up. The one time I did wear a nana-style dress was the day someone stopped me in the supermarket and said 'Are you pregnant again? Oh wow! You are!'. Um, no. Dress back into the 'not yet pile'...

But today I feel a little closer to normal (a long way to go..) and, well, I'm so tired of skirt and tops and everything in black. There's not enough colour in my life!

So yes, I may or may not still look 5 months pregnant, but I feel a lot cheerier. And that is the most important thing, afterall.

Dress - Salvation Army $4.50
Belt - Salvation army $2
Tights - Glassons $12.50
Shoes - The Warehouse $9

Oh, and, just in case you're wondering (cause we know you are.. she's much cuter than I!)... this is what the other Larsen lady is wearing today :

Dress - Salvation army $1.50
Cardi - Gifted (bought from community handcraft shop)
Leggings - Gifted (UK brand Early days)
Shoes - Gifted (Mokpuna merino)

A new camera!

I have been dreaming of a new camera for some time now. Our point-and-shoot is still okay, and was a brilliant model when we bought it, but I've been eyeing up a DSLR ever since Dee and Stella invested in theirs.
I spent a few months waiting for the 1100D to get down to a reasonable price, and last week it finally got down under $800. I added it to the cart, but didn't quite get round to pressing the 'checkout' button.
Phew! That was lucky, because Mum and Dad got home from overseas in the weekend, and I had a big talk with them about cameras. They discouraged me from buying the 1100D, convincing me to save up a bit more and get a more expensive model. I could see their reasoning and planned to put of purchasing for a few more months.
But THEN my Dad rung me the evening and told me he had a deal for me - one that was beyond awesome! He offered to sell me his  nearly new 550D for nearly $200 less than the 1100D was going to cost me. I had to think pretty hard.. for about 1 second. Um, YES, please!?
He claimed it was a good excuse for him to upgrade, but really it was just a very kind Dad thing to do!

So now the learning begins... any hints? Tips? Links? Wanna come give me some pointers? (I will make cake..)

Otto turns three - a photo essay.

 Opening cards in the morning.

(Squinty Abraham wishes he also had new ASOS sunglasses of awesomeness)

A picnic lunch in the backyard. Aesop in his tent, Mollie asleep, and all of us enjoying the sunshine while eating ham sandwiches, roast nuts and pieces of doughnut.

A spot of present opening.

Some family to celebrate with.

The blowing out of candles on a chocolate lion cake.

And plenty of new goodies to play with.

I think it is save to say, that Otto had a lovely third birthday.
It is so hard to fathom that it has been three years since he arrived. But, of course, it also feels like he has been here forever. He has been the perfect addition to our household the past few years, he is such a funny wee guy and a also such a cruiser.
I love the way Otto pronounces things (or shings, he would say), the way he treats the cat like another sibling, the way he smooches up to Mollie, the way he is so concerned when someone is sad or hurt, the way he walks with such swagger, the way he spends most of playcentre at the kai table, the way his face lights up when he is on the swings, the way he loves to snuggle, the jokes he makes.. pretty much everything about this guy is awesome. He is one cool little fellow, and I feel very blessed to hang out with him so often, and to be his Mum.

Happy birthday, Otto!

Other (craftier) bits and bobs.

A few other things that just didn't seem right lumped in with a wardrobe post:

Last night I listed 12 girls dresses in my Felt shop.
I feel the need to let you know that these were made pre-Mollie's arrival, so no comments about being super woman, okay? haha. I wish I was sewing this much at the moment, but my time will come : )
(I will be listing/relisting quite a bit over the next week or two, as time and sunlight allow..)

I'm finally getting my haircut tommorrow. Phew. It has been over three months!
This is the picture I'm taking to the hairdressers with me. So, hopefully I'll be back tommorrow with a photo of a similar fringe.. I might leave my clothes on though.
(Oooh just remembered I have some black hair dye in the bathroom cupbord - wonder if I should go back to black?)

This is what creativity  looks like for me at the moment. Snippets. Things I can do in bursts of 20 minutes or, better yet, less - then I can do them while Mollie is chatting to her playgym.
The cardi is one I wore as a baby, but it was fairly ratty with stains and wee holes. I couldn't toss it, so it got soaked three times, and gained itself a few wee patches. Nearly good as new again!
The doodling, well, is just doodling. But it's good to just be doing anything again.

Wardrobe Wednesday!

A wee girl's Wardrobe Weds today. It would appear she is the only one I can get a decent photo of in this cold, dull light. Where has the sun gone? Doesn't the weather know we have to get the car serviced tomorrow and we'll need to walk everywhere? It had best buck up its ideas before then!

Mols is all wrapped up toasty, for a trip to the op shop and post office. She is wearing:
Hat and boots - a gift.
Vintage wool dress - The Sallies
Woollen long sleeve top - Farmers (dyed green by me)
Leggings - made by me.

And, weirdly enough, I realised after dressing her that we are wearing perfectly matching outfits. I guess I just had these colours on my mind today. I better try harder not to do that when she's older, aye? Shameos, Mum!

I'm wearing:
Cardi & tights - Glassons
Top - Farmers
Skirt - Kmart
Shoes - The Warehouse

(Woah, covered nearly all the cheap-o chains in this outfit!)
