Mollie's Chair: Thirteen Months (Polka dot edition)

As you can see, the chicken pox are still lingering with my littlest one. Slowly all drying up, but still very much all over her - she is polka dotted!

This month Mol has taken it upon herself to start walking! Crawling is still her main mode of transport, but she's definitely taking steps in the right direction (heh). She delights in walking around pushing a pram/lawnmower or holding onto the hand of a proud brother. There have been quite a few unassisted steps taken, too, slowly, stopping inbetween to clap for herself!Sleeping has gone downhill slightly, eating is brilliant, talking is coming along nicely, still just the two teeth.
No complaints here : )

I had to really work to get a photo with a smile yesterday. The poor lass really is still under the weather.

Those spots on her right eyelid are so horrible - it's even more puffy and red, in the flesh.

I was getting concerned, when even her Tiny Eyes doll didn't get a smile! Luckily, she then decided throwing the doll on the ground and yelling 'Uh-oh!' was pretty hilarious.

It didn't take long for Mol to decide the photoshoot was all over. She slid down off the chair, and went on her way. Such a big girl now!

(Also, she FINALLY fits the vest I made way back when I first found out I was pregnant! Wish I could find time to make a few more - it really is my favourite knitting pattern, ever.)

Mollie's Chair - 12 Months.

Last Sunday, our Mollie celebrated one year of being earthside.
One year! 12 whole months!
I must confess that the milestone was quite bittersweet for me. I felt so full of love and so grateful for the year we have had, but there were a fair few tears shed as I iced the cake. My last baby is one already!? The very last 1 year old birthday party for our little family. My days of nursing a babe in arms are numbered! So hard to be over the moon about these things.
It has been a wonderful year, and Mollie is an absolute treasure. (Especially now that she sleeps. Heh.)
 We all feel very blessed to have her in our lives, and are so stoked that she chose us as a family. And so, so pleased that we didn't stop at two (even if it means somedays are very trying!).

This past month Mollie has become really vocal - burbling along with the rest of us, and practising high pitched squeals, loud shouts and words like 'Wow!'. She is especially vocal in the evenings if she is awake later than her brothers. Relishing the chance to be the only small person talking!


Sleep is brilliant. Eating is brilliant. My Mollie-pop is brilliant. Happy birthday, sweet girl.

Mollie's Chair - 11 months (a catch up..)

Miss Mollie celebrated 11 months last month. ELEVEN!
Do you know what that means? My tiny one will be 12 months old this month. Holy schmoley. Not so tiny anymore!

Mols is making leaps and bounds in her development at the moment. She is sleeping well (touch wood), eating like a champ, moving around the place at a great rate and starting to build a wee vocab.
(So far we have: Brubba (brother), nyum, ta, seeya, hello and bath.)
My favourite is the way she now says 'Mwah!' and leans in for a kiss. My heart melts everytime. Also ridiculously cute is how she pretends to eat the plastic fruit in the toy kitchen - loudly saying 'nyum nyum!' and making biting noises. She's such a sweetie.

As much as I wish she would just stay little, I must confess that I am looking forward to her toddling around - for purely selfish reasons, it's very hard to crawl in a sweet little vintage dress.. heh. I'm sure it will happen all too soon!

(Oh, that wispy, downy little head! I love it so.)

Mollie's Chair: 9 Months

I think this past month has been the most full of milestones, yet.
Miss Mollie has gained a tooth! And, with it, an appetite!
Her little chomper is popping through, and Mollie has finally decided that putting things in her mouth is the way to go. From just a few mouthfuls, she is now keen to chew on just about anything. Her firms faves are anything slightly salty, and soy ice cream. Good, healthy choices for a young lass.
(Don't judge me.. she does eat other foods too, promise!)

Mollie is pulling herself up to standing at every chance she gets, and crawling like a champ. Her pincer grip is spectacular, and her pinching one too. (Ouch!)
Sleep is, well, let's just say there is room for improvement.. We'll just leave it at that.

So, my girl, you've officially been out as long as you've been in. We're so pleased to have you x

Mollie's Chair - 8 Months ( A little late..)

So, this post got a bit lost in the fluster of getting ready for our big trip. But I couldn't very well skip it altogether, so here it is! Voila!
Mollie was 8 months old three days before Christmas.
Mol is well and truly on the move now - crawling like a pro, and pulling herself up on everything she can reach. She is still a little unsteady on her feet though ( thank goodness!) so hoping walking might hold off a little longer.
Actually, truthfully, I'm hoping she's like her brothers and waits til one and a half, but I highly doubt that!
There are still no teeth to be seen, and still no interest in solids. Breastmilk is the only thing passing this young ladies' lips. Actually, that's not quite true - yesterday she did suck on a piece of toast for the first time, I'm just not getting my hopes up. Hah. Both the boys had teeth and were showing down bigtime by 8 months. So funny how different kids can be.

We're winning at sleeping. Not going to jinx it by going into detail!

Mollie adores dancing to music, swinging, hanging out in the boys' room, exploring and anything that involves her brothers.

Mollie's Chair : 7 Months

Another month has flown by already. Scary how that happens.
Mol is growing and learning in leaps and bounds - learning to move and pull herself up, learning to make different noises (usually roaring and farting noises, her brothers influence?) and exploring and discovering the world around her. Every day her personality seems to shine through a bit more, and we are reassured that she is just as nutty as the rest of us. Hah.
Still no teeth, no interest in beginning to eat ... and no improvement in her sleep. But we'll get there.

We've started going to Mainly Music and Mollie is LOVING it. She gets down like the best of them, clapping her hands and wriggly her hips.Wonder if she will be musical like her clever Dad?  

She is also lapping up being outdoors a lot more. We spend quite a bit of time on the back lawn sorting pegs and watching the big boys play. She's going to adore the swing she's getting for Xmas, and the paddling pool when the weather is warmer.

Oh Mollie, I love you so. I say it every month, but please, please slow down and stay little just a bit longer. Please?

Yes, that is a 70's gingham pantsuit. With flared pants. In buttercup yellow. Mhmm!

Mollie's Chair : 6 Months!

My Mollie-mol was officially six months old on Monday. Half a year! This is crazy, or as Otto would say: 'What the hiccup?!'
It has been, all in all, such a great six months. We had a wee bout of reflux, we haven't had a lot of sleep and we've had a few other ups and downs, but Mollie is truly a delicious child and that makes anything else seem much more manageable.

Mol is rolling and inching her way around the room now, occasionally pulling up to her hands and knees. She is so close to taking off.
After a few tastes of banana a few weeks ago, Mollie has decided she's not ready for solids. (Well, we've decided... but she is refusing to have us put anything near her mouth and is not bringing things to her mouth herself yet.) We're thiiiis close to bringing up the high chair though - just waiting for her to master sitting up by her self.
Sleeping is coming along.. slowly but surely.
Mollie adores: her brothers, her Dad, nursery rhymes with actions (Row, row, row your boat and The grand old duke of york especially!), snuggling with Otto's special toys and being in bed with me.

Happy half birthday, Mollie. You are very, very loved. (And quite cute too, I must say..)

Mollies Chair : Five Months!

This month, Mollie has made leaps and bounds in terms of gaining control of her body.
There is a lot of grasping and holding, a lot of careful exploration with her eyes, and.. rolling! Couches and seats are no longer safe. (It took plenty of tries to take these photos without her trying to roll and climb down!). The other rolls are still making good progress, too. I haven't had her 5month Plunket visit yet, but she's well into the next size of clothes and definitely not getting lighter. Milk power!

There are little teeth moving around and bulging under her little gums. Rosy cheeks and slobbery smiles are the norm around here at the moment. Mollie is slowly working out how to get toys into her mouth to gnaw on, and loves those chewy fingers of hers. (I love them too, so pudgy and delicious!)

Sleeping? Hmm.. let's not ruin a lovely update, huh? Let's pretend we're all getting loads of it, and everything in hunky dory, so much nicer than reality!

We're very close to introducing tastes of fruit and vege into Mollies life. She is constantly reaching for, and staring at, the food we eat. We hope to (at least partially) follow the baby-led weaning route for the first time with Mol, so it will be an adventure for all of us.

Mollies Chair : 4 Months

FOUR months!
Mol is really starting to feel like part of the family now, if you know what I mean. We are starting to form a real routine (finally) and get back into the swing of things, and Mollie is really finding her place in all of it. The 'newness' is wearing off a little.
It's a bittersweet feeling, especially with this being our last baby. I had really hoped she would stay small and squishy forever, but I guess, if she can't, then it is good for her to be slotting in so nicely.
Mollie is absolutely delicious. She has rolls in all the right places, and the cutest gummy grin I ever did see. I still think she looks a lot more like Abraham than the boys did, especially with her cheeky half-smile. She is inching closer to rolling over, and is fascinated with looking at (and chewing on) her hands. She has just started grasping toys and bringing them to her mouth - very cute.
Mollie has discovered giggling in a big way, both involuntary 'that tickles' type, and 'hah! Crack up!' type. Very infectious.
Her favourites are still her brothers though - nearly always a guaranteed grin! 

Mollie's Chair - 12 weeks!

Miss Mollie has reached that magical three month mark!
And, magically, she is starting to find a bit of a routine. My dear girl has begun to sleep decent stretches, both day and night, and we are both loving it.
Mol is such a happy lass since she has discovered sleeping in a bed! She smiles a lot and even laughs a little. She is doing a lot of talking and gooing and loves to converse with everyone.
Mollie has found her feet, and loves to watch them kick around. She is beginning to grasp things with her chubby little hands, and hit around the toys on her play gym.
She's pretty much perfect, if I do say so myself.

(I have no idea why these photos are so blurry, they aren't when I open them up as photos, just when I put them in Blogger. Good one, Blogger, way to make my photos look stink!)
