(Say hello to) My little exercise friends...

See this? Yeah, it's a cross trainer. MY cross trainer!
Sooo, I bought a cross trainer (off TM) in the weekend. A touch extreme, yes, but I feel that extreme measures are called for sometimes. My scales and my mood/general wellbeing are telling me that shits gettin' real - something needs to be done!
I have been getting out walking 2-3 times a week, but not nearly as often as I'd like. There always seems to be a boy-child home sick, dinner to be made, rain pelting down, walking clothes in the wash etc. Always an excuse to be had! See that cross trainer? I can use it in my undies, on a pouring wet day, with both boys watching from the couch, if I have to. Not many excuses I can make for that one!

Inspired by Pip, Abraham and I are doing the 'C25K' programme on it. Figured it would be good to have a programme to stick to, for motivation. Abraham is kindly playing along, for moral support. He's a good man.
I'm on Week 1, Day 2 of the programme and I can tell you, I'm so pleased I've been walking - if I went, literally, from the couch to this.. I think I would have died. Phew! Sweaty much! Knackered much? But I LOVE it.

I have also purchased a journal from the clever Emma at Emmamakes, to keep track of what I'm eating. I'm not cutting out whole food groups etc, but I'm trying to make portions smaller, avoid eating so much sugar (especially baking!) and up my fruit and veg. Simple but, hopefully, effective.

My final purchase, the most expensive, is a new pair of trainers.
I've had my last pair around 4 years, and my toes poke through at the end and sides - not such a good look. They're a pricey thing to replace though! And it's a hassle to spend time at the store having your feet assessed and shoes fitted properly.
(So thankful to be able to do this without kids. Love you, Abraham!)
I was lucky enough to have Mum go halvsies with me on these, so I could afford to get the comfiest ones I tried. Way more enthused about exercise when my feet are cosy!

So yes, it really is ON!

What about you guys? What's your exercise routine?

Curvy Style Friday.

My lovely friend, Stella, has started something beautiful. (Actually, as most of you know, everything Stella does is beautiful..) Stella has started 'Curvy Style Friday', an extension of Wardrobe Wednesday where she not only wears super cute clothes, but celebrates her curves at the same time! Sa-weet!

Soo.. my photos are not half as fabulous as Stellas, but I certainly have a shapely body to flaunt - so here I am!

I haven't been having a great relationship with my curves lately. Or with anything, much. I'm in a funk!
I've been struggling to lose some weight since having Mol and I seem to be fighting a losing battle.. a kilo off here.. two on here.. and I'm still the same weight I was two weeks after giving birth. Bummer.
I'm hoping that, along with upping the exercise and cutting back on the food, taking the odd outfit picture might help bring my self esteem (and mood) back up again.
Also hoping the three handfuls of supplements a day will help to restore some health to my body. Healthy body + happy mind = ideal. We'll see...watch this space!

A funny aside; When I walked out wearing this outfit the other day, Otto looked at me a bit funny.
'What is that on your lips, Mum?'
'Lipgloss! Does it look nice?'
'Ummm, not really. It looks pretty weird. Does it hurt?'

Safe to say I don't wear make up very often! Hah!

Wardrobe Wednesday (late, as usual...)

I'm a day out this week, not tooo bad.
Thanks to Mollie sleeping nearly three hours, yesterday morning was spent photographing and listing bags in the felt shop. All of which was done in my pjs.. something you really don't need to see on the blog!
I decided today would need to make up for it.

I've also had a very negative body image this week, for some reason.
I've been down in the dumps about my lumps, if you will.
It is safe to say I fell off the Weight Watchers wagon pretty quickly.. and it has well and truly left me behind. (Left me exactly the same weight I was too, unfortunately.)
I'm trying ridiculously hard to remind myself it is early days/Mollie is still new/it's hard to lose weight on no sleep etc, but it's exhausting. It's a vicious wee cycle: feel stink-eat to feel better-don't lose weight. And so on and so on. Made a million times worse by my zombified state.
A few semi-decent photos of oneself goes a long way though. I might walk past a window or mirror this afternoon and feel a bit sick, but looking at these photos I feel half okay about my current body. And that's good enough to keep me going for awhile.

Wardrobe Wednesday

.. posted on a Monday night, of an outfit I wore on Sunday. Ah well, you do what you can do when you can do it when babes are this young, right?

This is what I wore yesterday.
It's nothing fancy, but I liked it because a) it felt a little like my post-pregnancy style and b) it was super comfy and warm. Both of these things make me very happy at the moment. Post-partum dressing, for me, is just not a time to be stepping too far out of my comfort zone!

My outfit details:
Cowl - Farmers $15
Top and Singlet - Glassons $20 and $10
Skirt - Thrifted years and years ago
Tights - Farmers about $15
Boots - #1 Shoe Warehouse $40

In other news.. I started my post-baby weightloss journey last week, despite a bit of criticism from husband and friends. I realise that 8 weeks is not a heck of a long time to give my body to get back to 'normal', and that Mollie needs me to eat extra and move less to provide optimum nourishment, but I also know myself. I know that, given a good excuse (like pregnancy and breastfeeding) I do not just add a few extra calories each day, I eat about double what I need to. If I'm not feeling accountable - I'm dangerous.
So, I have joined Weightwatchers and I'm hoping to (very slowly.. half a kilo a week ideally..) get back to my pre-Mollie self.
Oh how I look forward to wearing some of those clothes again!

Wardrobe Wednesday

I completely forgot about Wardrobe Wednesday again this week. Luckily I remembered this morning!
What I didn't forget was that it is is the first day of Spring, and I thought I should dress accordingly.
I'm wearing the ever-cheerful yellow sneakers I got at The Warehouse, black tights from good 'ole Farmers, a VERY bright wrap around dress from Trademe seller 'Vintage Kitty' and a stripy top from The Sallies. I decided this outfit didn't need any accessorising, it is kinda full-on as is!

I'm also too bloomin' tired and sore to think about accessories. Today is day 4 of the 10 week weight-loss challenge that I'm doing with my Mum and Dad.
After having such a 'blue' Winter, I really feel like I need to do something to get me feeling good about myself again and, unfortunately, losing weight will play a big part in that. I'd love to say that I'm a-okay with my flab (the fat acceptance movement is one of those things I really want to believe in but just can't get there..) but ever since the 'O' word found me again  (no, not the good one.. obesity!) I've been feeling pretty stink.
I'm okay with being the larger sister, the larger one in my circle of friends etc, but I have a closet choc-a-block full of vintage amazing-ness and only a very small slither of it fits me right now. Hence, weightloss is back on my agenda.
Although, after three walk/runs and a weights/boxing session with my Dad last night I'm feeling like this is going to be the longest 10 weeks of my life. Let's see if I can keep it up.
